Summer vacation is officially on the horizon. Four more days ..... you've got this. I have not assigned any new work this week. Please take the time to continue to work on any assignments you have not yet completed. Answer to last week's challenge will be posted tonight. The finish line is in sight. Only two weeks to go. We've got this and we will finish strong together. This week you will be learning about Haiku poems, how to calculate the area of a triangle and the volume of a three dimensional object. There is also another weekly challenge puzzle afloat. How wonderful to reunite with some students last week, face to face. I look forward to seeing what this week brings. Please remember, that no matter where you decide to be, I am there if you need support, or just want to chat about what you have been up to. This week I'm looking for a picture of the book you are reading. You will be learning about acrostic poems and how to calculate the area of a parallelogram. I am leaving the existing weekly challenge up as I have only had a few attempts at it. This week some students will be coming back to school. As a result, you may see a reduction in online assignments this week. I want you to know that no matter what you and your family choose, I will be there to support you, in class or online. How is your research on Victory Gardens coming along? Have you finished Part A of the Garden Plan? Keep working on these projects, I can hardly wait to see what everyone has been up to this past week. Look what I found on my favourite seed site!
Over the past few weeks I have enjoyed talking with students about gardens and discussing the various plants they are growing. This past week we planted raspberries alongside an old fence. For the next two weeks, your assignments will all revolve around the theme of 'gardens'. Now that the winds have settled (hopefully), we can look forward to beautiful sunny days with temperatures rising. This week there will be 4 math, 1 additional reading, and 5 writing assignments. I've started receiving samples of last weeks creative alliteration project. They look amazing!! Can't wait to see some others. I finally managed to plant a few things in the vegetable garden this weekend. A new patch of strawberries, lettuce, onions, and peas. Too cold yet for the cucamelons. A few of you have also let me know that you have been planting as well. Something new for us to focus on. A distraction of sorts as we wait for the first sprouts to appear. Speaking of new, we will begin to explore figurative language in reading and writing, perimeter in math, and yes of course, there is a new challenge of the week.
